to announce:
In 1999, international artists Philippe Parreno and Pierre
Huyghe picked a sad, lost and lonely Manga character from
a Japanese licensing catalogue. They bought the copyrights,
named her Ann Lee and invited friends and
fellow artists to provide this virtual character with its
own identity.
We have the honour to announce that Ann Lee herself will
be giving the opening speech at the pictoplasma conference
2004.
Characters are doing it for themselves!
Buro
Destruct, Switzerland's answer to Japanese
craziness, have turned their hands to the VJ mixer.
They'll be taking the night train all the way to Berlin
to dazzle the dancefloor with a mind-boggling set of plump
unicorns, weeping moles and an elk.
